The awards recognize leadership in deploying advanced coal technologies that deliver ultra-low emissions. Globally, one new 500-megawatt coal plant is being brought on line every three days, and the majority of this power is being developed as high- efficiency supercritical generation that delivers low emissions. As the world continues to use more coal, broad deployment of supercritical technology with advanced controls – available and in use today – should be the global standard.
2014 was the inaugural year for the awards and was hosted at the Power-Gen International Conference in Orlando, Florida, U.S., recognizing three, major U.S. coal-fueled power plants. This year, we wish to recognize the “cleanest” coal plants, in 5 global geographies including: India, Europe, Eastern Asia (excluding China) and North America.
